A Path to Success and Empowerment for Women

Updated: Mar 31

Want to be successful but don’t know where to start?

Maybe you need a mentor!

The Value of Mentorship

For women ages 18 and 35, mentorship is not just beneficial—it can be transformative. It’s often overlooked (unless you’re in business or a corporate career), but mentorship has a purpose in EVERY walk of life.

Our early twenties and thirties are a time filled with critical decisions about careers, relationships, and personal growth. Many of us are trying to answer these questions on our own. Having a guide who has walked a similar path can make a huge difference.

Especially if you’re trying to teach yourself things you weren’t taught growing up.

Mentorship fosters confidence, provides direction, and empowers you to overcome the obstacles that might be holding you back.

Why Mentorship Matters

Research shows that women with mentors are more likely to achieve higher levels of success in both their personal and professional lives. A mentor provides guidance, encouragement, and practical advice, helping mentees set clear goals and develop actionable strategies to reach them.

Additionally, mentorship helps women navigate systemic barriers. Studies indicate that women—particularly those from marginalized backgrounds—often lack access to the same professional networks as their male counterparts.

Having a mentor helps bridge this gap by offering connections, career opportunities, and insider knowledge that can accelerate success.

Building Confidence and Resilience

One of the most significant benefits of mentorship is the boost in self-confidence it provides.

Many women struggle with imposter syndrome and self-doubt,

especially in male-dominated industries or after experiencing trauma. A mentor serves as a role model, proving that success is possible and that setbacks are not the end of the road but opportunities for growth.

Even outside of a career focus, mentorship instills resilience on a personal level. Having a trusted advisor to turn to during difficult times can help inspire perseverance and shift your mindset when you’re feeling discouraged. Knowing that someone believes in you can be a powerful motivator to keep pushing forward.

Finding the Right Mentor

The right mentor doesn’t have to be someone with an identical background but it should be someone who aligns with your values, ambitions, and challenges. You want to make sure that they can understand your mindset and have empathy in their approach. You can find a mentor through networking events, professional organizations, or online platforms and even within community centers like churches and your local gym.

Get deliberate about what you want out of life and then put the resources in place to help you get it! A strong mentor-mentee relationship can be life-changing. Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone who you think might be a good mentor for you.
